We’ve been following the trail Watching out for the white rabbit’s tail No wonder we had to fail Then the clouds had ceased to cry And the rainbow convinced us to try To find where the gold would lie This is the end of the rainbow and we hear no chear The gold that we found in the ground is all fool’s gold, my dear This is the end of the rainbow and now it’s so clear It’s cold and we’re bound to be crowned by the fool’s loudest sneer We complained along the track But then again no one ever looked back We tried to avoid the flak
2.
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time Sometimes I wish I could live along another timeline Sometimes I wish I could see what is mine Sometimes I wish I could be part of another timeline Call it fate To be born too late Sometimes I wish I could feel sixty-nine Sometimes I wish I could follow up another timeline

I don’t belong to the working class I belong to the unemployed It looks as though that time will pass Before I fill that void I’m qualified for so many things But it’s hard to get a job these days Since I can’t go for anything Until it really pays I’m so overqualified Now I find my hands are tied I’m so overqualified I don’t know what to do The dole will see me through In any way My résumé Shows what I once knew I did my masters in virology And a PhD on top of that And all they ever cared to offer me Was to sell medical crap
4.
Monday to Sunday I’m home and away at the same time I travel on gravel I fly with the other odd airline I get to know girls and I share time with them Lizzy feels dizzy A free-lancing, hard working lawyer Sandy likes shandy And’d rather be free like Tom Sawyer But lives to work for her employer instead Still in my head I can hear how she said You are a friend Of all I’ve met Who’d have ever said that I never saw anyone ever again Spent trips with friendships That lasted as long as the journey I think that my shrink Would honestly like to deter me From having their problems concern me too much I’m wondering what you do today Are you someone’s wife? In other words, are you still alive?
5.
What a pretty day, but in a metaphoric way I don’t have much to say Tied up in a chair, I smell the softness of her hair As her body bends over me My eardrum and gums turn numb, her thumb is on my tongue My teeth can feel some steel I choke, a lot of smoke, the smell of something burned and broke My mouth transmits each poke I would certainly cry But to know that I’d die Prevents any scream I’m suffering low Enjoying the show Pretending to dream What a pretty day, but in a less euphoric way I don’t have much to say Sweat on my forehead, those eyes are turning slightly mad As she sorts out the good from the bad I bet she can see, I purposely laid hands on me To be her vis-à-vis Apprenticed Miss Dentist Taking care of me With every new drill I’m all hers at will She’s hotter than steam I’m a little too shy To tell her that my Intentions are rather obscene
6.
What A Day 03:40
Hey, hey, what a day Hey, hey, what a day All has worked out fine And now the day is mine Hey, hey, what a day Woe-ho, way to go Woe-ho, way to go All’s been said and done So let’s soak up the sun Hey, hey, what a day Nothing left to do Only to meet you Hey, hey, what a day Hey, hey, what a day All kept with the plan And now who is the man Hey, hey, what a day

I was born in Germany Quite a place to me Not only pretzels and beer There’s more you can like here I was born in Germany Living history Some of it good and some bad There’s so much that we had Some time ago so infamous for shouting out loud Nowadays famous for not knowing how to act proud I am still asking myself what this bit means to me To be born in Germany I was born in Germany And occasionally There is good music around Without any brass sound So many things could be better and so many worse But I am quite happy where I am in this universe Even if asking myself what the answer might be There’s nothing to do or to say to deny what is me I was born in Germany

One for you And none for me As far as I can see That’s how things used to be Two is one And one is you But now I think we’re through No matter what you do Now that you say You changed your way I disagree Should I believe this line For an endless time In the hope everything will be fine But no, not this time Not this time Live it up Or give it up But don’t rely on me Be what it may will be One for you Is none for me So time for you to see None is what I guarantee
10.
How come you don’t do what you say you’d like to do When the whole of your cv contains watching tv Or do you really think that’s a proper stance? Now you’re thirty-six and you’re telling all the chicks That you could have been a star, if only you’d worked hard But somehow you just did not get the chance Yesterday your way Might have seemed okay But in the end you only know Yesterday today was tomorrow Nobody can say how you are meant to seize the day But then everybody knows how fuckin’ fast everything goes And that you never get a second chance
11.
I feel so worn out I’m sick and tired of your doubt I was helpless and now I’m hopeless I thought I belonged To you, god knows that I was wrong I have suffered and not recovered You have made me feel That there might be a chance for real You’re a bluffer and I ain’t tougher I have always thought that I am strong enough to be The motor of our love, but now there’s nothing left of me Nothing left of me I’ve fallen apart And now I seek for a new start I’m in prison, since you have risen I have always thought that I am strong enough for two But now there’s nothing left of me and all there is, is you Nothing left of me (You see, there’s no we, only you and me)
12.
Just one more final kiss But please don’t misunderstand I gave you my word and I promise That I will let you go Despite my woe And this kiss Just one more final word I know you heard all I said That I want you so bad it’s absurd So I will love you still Although it will Hurt I know someday, someway After this final kiss I’ll dismiss you from my mind Someday, one day Only this will reminisce about what we left behind Just one more final song There’s nothing wrong when I sing Where I’m strong like a king and belong Then I will let you go Despite my woe And this final kiss

about

This second album by ERK has only been release as CD in Japan in 2009, following the 7" vinyl single "Overqualified", which has found its way into the German radio stations. The 12 original album tracks have been extended by another track recorded at the time: "Julia". This Lennon/McCartney song has been rearranged into a piano piece, keeping the original guitar picking pattern by John Lennon turning it into another tidbit and completing the other works of this great album!

about

Erk Berlin, Germany

„Erk? That’s not a name, that's a sound!“

This is what everybody told Erk Wiemer wherever he travelled. So if people thought of his name as a sound – why not put a soundtrack to the person behind? So he did!

“Piano, bass and drums – I don’t think I really need any other instruments!” said Erk when he started back in 2003. Since then he has evolved his sound and music, but still keeps it simple!
